What is AHOY Comics?

There’s a story behind our name, but we’re not going to tell you--yet. In the meantime, think of it as shorthand for:

ABUNDANCE! More pages of comics. Text pages that give you short stories, satire, poetry, criticism, illustrations, and cartoons. No expense spared to publish substantial comics magazines you can spend more time with.

HUMOR! The world isn’t getting any happier, but we still have to live in it. If we can’t always smile, we can at least laugh.

ORIGINALITY! Cats in space. A second-rate afterlife. Masked crime-fighters ripped away from their respective comics. The funny side of Edgar Allan Poe. If you’ve already read anything like it, we’re not going to publish it. No writers’ rooms, no whiteboards, no house style. No, no, no--

YES! Yes to monthly comics. Yes to collected editions. Yes to meaningful stories, dramatic art, and beautiful design. Yes to working and shipping on schedule. Yes to the fine production details that make enjoyment effortless. Yes to page numbers! Yes to comics for comics’ sake. Yes to people who love to read.

So! Memorize the above, place your right hand on a comic book, and say it with us:

AHOY!
